So you’re interested in learning more about the guy behind Burning River Blog --- either that or you stumbled upon this page by accident. If so, you’ve probably already moved on aren’t even reading this right now. I’m going to go ahead and assume though that you actually do want to no more about me and really did click the “About ME” link at the top of the page.
No my name is not Joecephus, I don’t even remember how I started using that name on the internet, I may have been listening to some Hank Jr. when I picked my twitter name or something. My name is Joe and I the child of immigrants, I am Croatian by blood and American by the grace of God. I’m proud of my Croatian heritage, but at the same time I feel truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to be born and raised in the greatest country on God’s Green Earth.
My blog is titled, Burning River Blog mainly because I owned the domain name associated with it for a business venture I never quite got off of the ground. Burning River refers to where I come from, and the incident that caused my hometown of Cleveland, OH to become the but of many jokes, the Cuyahoga River catching on fire.
I used to have a more political-oriented blog, under the name Right Wing Rebel, and actually had a few readers --- I was even mentioned on the official website for the Fred Thompson campaign in 2008. I grew tired off blogging about politics and the site slowly slipped away. You can only say “democrats are stupid,” so many times before it really starts to get old. It is the truth still, but I felt like I was just preaching to the choir. Most of the early posts on this blog are archives of that old blog.
While the web site name Right Wing Rebel, just reeks of awesomeness as it rolls of the tongue, I gave it up because I think it gave people the impression that I was some sort of crazy, gun-toting redneck.
Now I do tend to favor republicans more then democrats, but that’s only because unfortunately it comes down to the lesser of two evils more often then not. I consider myself to be an independent minded (small “l”) libertarian-leaning Conservative.
I’ve been asked before how can a heavy metal loving guy with tattoos be a “Conservative.” And I always answer its easy, I have a free-mind.
I am a life long Clevelander and a Cleveland sports fan. Growing up in Northeast Ohio rooting for the Cleveland Browns has pretty much made me a jaded, bitter fuck.
I am a metal head at heart, though I am also a big country music fan. I also like collecting tattoos, hunting and camping neither of the last two do I get the opportunity to do as much as I would like.
I’ve worked blue collar factory jobs as a cnc machinist, I’ve been in retail management running a small business, and now I’m white collar sitting behind a desk working for a large, large organization. I really hate having to shave now because of it.
That’s all I got for now, I don’t really know if that was an adequate enough job of describing myself, I’ll just leave the rest up to everyone who knows me. If you want to know more, I guess you’ll just have to continue reading.
